Medal Designing

This top picture shows the first sketch that I've did at Grasso cafe, an adjacent cafe of my previous office. A croissant and a cup of tea was my normal order while working as I needed space and food to work.

The bottom picture shows the progress of the drawings and designs (with inspirations I found on the internet, inputs from the team, as well as inputs from my family). The main idea was to present the 1) Nature, 2) Heritage, 3) Quirks, 4) Food of Singapore. The wedged series medal was conceptualized due to the edgy (pun intended) parts of the triangular pieces. Safety concerning sharp edges were a concern, as well as the connecting parts of the medals.

As I was searching for a job related to Sports and Fitness in the 3rd quarter of 2017, I came across this company called JustRunLah, wrote in, and was offered the opportunity to try out the position of Digital Media and Events Marketing Associate. It's a pretty long name for a position. Probably the longest position name I've ever had. In this company, I've learned that there are 3 roles- an online, offline, and technical (IT) role.

The position Digital Media and Events Marketing Associate role is mainly online, and I'd say this is a relevant skill to have in this era of communications through social media. For Digital Media, task includes -> schedule relevant articles to be posted out every 3H on Facebook, create running routes, and update the running calendar. I remembered there was this time that I felt too much of working on a computer screen, too online, that I went to walk 2 big rounds within the vicinity of the office building. That helps in soothing my feeling of irritability due to working on a computer too much.

The job scope I liked, was my role:
1) As an author, https://www.justrunlah.com/author/stella-lim/
2) My role to experience a fitness product launch (Fitbit Ionic) and write about it
3) To design a series of running medals (part of Events Marketing)

I feel glad and proud that elements of the initial vision and designs came to fruition and it's going to be manufactured into medals that's going to be issued to every runner who finishes. Though I'm not working with the company anymore, I had found my time spent working on this rare opportunity a meaningful one.
